The Stafford Police Department, located at 2702 South Main across from City Hall, is comprised of 63 employees. The Police Chief, Bonny Krahn, is appointed by the Mayor and city council. Assistant Chief Phil Horton serves as the second in command and assumes the Chief's duties when he is unavailable. Lieutenant Crum serves as supervisor over the patrol division, and directly under the Assistant Chief. There are five Sergeants: one in charge of Criminal Investigations, one in charge of Support, and three in charge of the patrol shifts. The patrol division, with 27 sworn patrol officers, operates in three shifts. There are three Corporals assigned to work under the three patrol Sergeants. The Stafford Police Department provides two officers and one Corporal to enforce laws within the Stafford Municipal School District. There is also one officer assigned to the municipal court as a Bailiff.
